The Pantone Color Institute released a brand-new shade of purple in honor of the late Prince. The unique purple shade, “Love Symbol #2,” is named after the trademark emblem that served as his stage name in the late 1990s. The purple shade was “inspired by his custom-made Yamaha purple piano” according to a press release, and “will be the official color across the brand (Prince) left behind.” With lilacs and violets trending, and in honor of Prince’s official hue, let’s let purple reign and check out some amazing events it’s been a part of. Purple ranges from warm to cool and can create different atmospheres and moods depending on the hues it is paired with. This tabelscape created a warm and romantic vibe by pairing a lighter, heather, purple and soft peach and pink florals. The deep fig and gold accents give this design rich, regal touches.Big Delicious Planet | Mary Rafferty
Plate With Purple

Purple is also having its moment on our plate. The mysterious and magical hue is trending in the food world, and for good reason. Whole Foods experts report “Richly colored purple foods are popping up everywhere: purple cauliflower, black rice, purple asparagus, elderberries, acai, purple sweet potatoes, purple corn and cereal . . . The power of purple goes beyond the vibrant color and often indicates nutrient density and antioxidants.” Incorporating purple in your menu is another, creative way to include the hue in your event design. Richer and deeper hues of purple, like amethyst, create a lush vibe. Eggplant, fuchsia and burgundy adds sophistication and brings out the luxury. Yellow-citron and green pops add a strong eye-catching contrast to this table design.
