2015 Catering Trends We Love

Favorite Catering Trends of 2015

Wedding season is here, and we’re excited to share our favorite 2015 trends with you! No matter where you or your client happens to be in the planning process, we’ve put together this list of our favorite catering trends for 2015 weddings. Will you be using any of these ideas on your big day?

Elevated Comfort Food

Enjoy Comfort Food

We all have that favorite dish that takes us back to a time where we felt happiest or most comfortable. This year, don’t give up your favorite foods on your big day. If a certain food makes you smile, it will do the same for your guests. Consider mini BLTs with basil or hot pepper mayo. Or if you’re looking for an entree, mac & cheese is a classic comfort food that can be taken to the next level by using regionally sourced artisan cheeses.

Late Night Food

Late Night Meals

One of the trends we’re totally into this year is late night food. A seated dinner is still quite common at wedding receptions. But more couples are realizing that after socializing all night and dancing off that delicious dinner, guests appreciate a late night snack. So they’re opting to serve a second, tapas style mini meal as the party is coming to a close. We love this trend because it gives people a chance to serve something fun and different than what they might normally serve.

His & Hers Custom Cocktails

This year, many couples are adding a personal touch and serving their own signature drinks. Serving just two cocktails can significantly lower the cost for alcohol at your event, freeing up those funds for something else. Or if you like, they can be served alongside wine and beer. If you’re planning a classic Southern wedding, think Mint Julep and Whiskey Sour. For a breezy beach wedding, serve margaritas and a light refreshing sangria. The possibilities are limitless!

Local/Organic

Today, local and organic farms make it so easy to know where your food comes from. You almost can’t call this one a trend because really going back to the way things were. Not only that, but using best ingredients for you and your loved ones is healthier and you can taste the difference.

Local and Organic Farm Produce

Action Stations

Action Stations Encourage Customized Food & Drinks

Our last trend is relatively new on the scene but we think it’ll catch on quick. If you’re unfamiliar with the concept of action stations, think of them as a super fun way to get your guests involved at your meal. Picture a cr‚àö‚Ñ¢pe bar with an array of sweet and savory fillings. Create a custom drink bar, cookie bar or coffee bar.

Involve Your Guests with Multiple Food Options

For savory options, imagine choosing your favorite toppings for crispy pork carnitas and having a staff member create a custom salsa or guacamole while you watch. For dessert, possibly a cheesecake bar with an array of toppings that make each dessert unique.

Options like these involve you and your guests and make them feel like they are a part of the action.

So there you have it! Those are our favorite wedding trends for 2015. We’d love to hear which ones you’ll incorporate into your next event.
