With mountains as the backdrop and green lawn all around, this outdoor scene couldn’t have been more romantic. But it was the inspiration of hanging greens forming impressive chandeliers above the dining tables that lifted it to the heights!
A 10-Year Courtship
Culminating 10 years of “togetherness” — the bride and groom met as freshmen in college — this couple relied on their history together to make choices for their ceremony and reception. The setting on the grounds of North Carolina’s Biltmore estate are not only impressive, but the location offered a spectacular weekend getaway for friends and family from throughout the country.
Overhead Elegance
Although the massive hanging centerpiece was the center of attention in the elegant tented banquet hall, it was the mix of pale pink and blush linen — in three different patterns — that helped pull disparate elements together. Both the “hanging gardens” and the tabletops are accented with sparkling lights and pale blush flowers.
Unabashedly Romantic
This bride kept color to a minimum, but didn’t overlook a single detail of refined elegance, from wedding stationery to a sheer overskirt to her slim tailored gown that she donned for the wedding ceremony to the bowed pink flats — not in the least traditional — that she allowed to peek out occasionally from under her sparkling gown.
Minimal Color
Pink and cream dominated every decorated surface, from the invitations with their stylish grey background to the startlingly simple wedding cake. The secondary theme may have been a bit risky in less confident hands — Everyone in the wedding party wore black, except the bride. The result is spectacularly romantic! Even many of the wedding photos were shot in black and white, an inspired touch.
A Nod to Natural
Proving once again that natural surroundings need little embellishment, table settings and floral decorations reinforce the theme. A sense of tranquility echoes throughout, but the floral designer did not hesitate to “overdo” the arrangements, mixing garden roses, pink snowberry, lace-cap hydrangea, zinnias and love-in-a-puff vine for the absolutely right result.

Combining Traditions
Because the bride and groom were of different faiths, they incorporated traditions important to each family. Vows were exchanged under a huppah lavished with greenery, dahlias and garden roses, centered by a table round skirted in pale glimmering blush. Both a Jewish rabbi and Presbyterian minister officiated.
Garden Party Theme
In garden, nothing seems out of place. So too in this exuberant, if restrained setting. Unmatched flowers, a smart combination of different table linen, lavish white tent draping, and numerous personal touches create perfect harmony!
Simply Gorgeous
Bracketed by simple silver flatware and class crystal, a gold-rimmed charger at each place is the very definition of formal. But the white napkin and menu card, along with solid color table linen and pure white tapers in glass hurricanes allow the floral table runner to take center stage.
