Amid grasses stirred by the breeze and long views across the prairie toward the sunset, this Wisconsin couple repeated vows in an outdoor setting highlighted only by nature and natural landscape colors. The bridal party formed a vision in filmy white, off-white, traditional charcoal and black, and a winding path represented the couple’s walk into the sunset to face their future.
Molly and Sam’s was the first wedding ever held at Erin Hills Golf Course in Hartford, Wisconsin. The ceremony was sited with a weathered barn as backdrop, and the reception — a spectacular vision of white and crystal — was held under a white tent centered by a full-size tree.
Childhood Sweethearts
Sam was the acknowledged catalyst for this formal wedding. Molly admits that, without his influence, she would have settled for eloping. But friends and family agree that the natural surroundings suited the couple to a tee, and was a fitting way for them to tie the knot.
Opening Doors to a New Life
A pair of antique doors decorated with simple greenery opened the way to the ceremony, held with a stunning traditional barn as backdrop. This outdoor wedding set the stage for the reception to follow.
The True Definition of Simple
White tent poles are adorned only with greenery, and round tables in white, are like a welcoming oasis for guests. The surrounding Wisconsin prairie grounds the celebration with familiarity and makes the evening even more special. The perimeter of contrasting visions of dark wood and white serves as a seemingly natural boundary between the reception and the great outdoors.

Dark, White and Natural
There is something innately soothing about dark-toned, polished wood, the gleam of silver and clear crystal, and an abundance of white. Nothing is contrived and it all seems so right. Actually, that was the prevailing opinion about the marriage too. Guests noted that Molly and Sam “belong together!”
Distractions Be Gone!
Table settings are pristine, pure and elegant. White service plates, white linen napkins, white floral centerpieces, with just an occasional pale pink tint visible in a rose petal. Lighting by overhead clear bulbs is enhanced by simple votives and white column candles nested in simple cloche lanterns.
A Bit of Elegance
Family tables at the center of the space are stand apart in finery — floor-length patterned linen with a bit of sparkle and shine — a fitting tribute to a bride and groom who, by their own admission, are perfect for each other.
Tied with a Circle of Gold
The only embellishment on a three-tiered wedding cake — just as simple and spectacular as the rest of the celebration — is a double band of gold encircling each layer, and a single stunning bloom highlighted by a diamond-encrusted pearl.

This is absolutely a wedding celebration worthy of note!
